A meeting of the New Mexico Fire Chiefs Association (NMFCA) will be held on Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 8:30 am at the Roswell Fire Department, 200 South Richardson Avenue, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please plan on being there!
A business meeting, including the election of President and two board members is on the agenda, as well as reports from statewide fire service boards and commissions. Proposed changes to the NMFCA By-Laws will also be discussed during the meeting. A vote on these changes will take place at 4 PM Wednesday, September 28 in Ruidoso during the 2011 NM Fire Conference. A full agenda for the August 31 meeting will be available the NMFCA website (http://www.nmfirechiefs.com) by July 15. The proposed By-Laws changes are attached.
In accordance with the Constitution & By-Laws of the NMFCA (Article III, Section 2, 08/03), municipal fire departments:
- in good standing and in attendance at a meeting shall be entitled to cast
a single vote in the name of the municipality.
Non-municipal fire departments (such as county, tribal, and other governmental subdivisions of the State of New Mexico):
- within each county may combine into one “county entity.” The “county entity” must designate a Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, or other Chief Officer (with 2 to 5 crossed trumpets) and submit that name to the New Mexico Municipal League liaison as its designated “voting representative” at least 30 (thirty) days prior to the annual meeting. Each county entity in good standing and in attendance at a meeting shall be entitled to cast a single vote in the name of the county entity.
Please remember that the payment of subsection dues must be current in order to maintain “good standing” status.
